Description

At long last, the book for knitters of all levels of experience and education! This is the very first book dedicated to expounding the simple mysteries of knitting, from casting on to binding off and everything in between. Here's a sampling of the tips and techniques that will enhance your knitting experience:

emergency measure #1: how a crochet hook can help you pick up a dropped stitch

circular needle trick #1: using a single extra-long circular needle to knit a sock

how to tell the difference between a knit stitch and a purl stitch

I-cord, but even more I: making knitted cord with dpns, circular needles, and even straight needles

circular needle trick #2: how knitting on a circular needle becomes a tube, and how to prevent this

the secrets to converting women's sock patterns for use by men

emergency measure #2: knitting cables when you've lost your cable needle

hats that fit: the relationship between head circumference and hat size

circular needle trick #3: using multiple circular needles to knit an extra-long row

dpn power: using 3, 4, 5 or more double-pointed needles at once

licence to print money: write your own book about knitting techniques

converting knitting instructions for lefties

The author answers all of those subtle, almost unfathomably moronic questions that any new or experienced knitter might have, while sharing self-congratulatory gems about her own knitting triumphs.

About the
      Author
Lilith House has been leaving her double-pointed needles on the sofa for over twenty years, and she still hasn't learned her lesson despite five trips to the emergency room. A firm believer in self-empowerment through knitting, she has been a knitting instructor for more than a decade and has appeared on several talk shows, where she is reknown for her strict, my-way-or-the-highway approach with beginning knitters. Lilith also maintains her own knitting mailing list on the Internet dedicated to mastering the techniques taught in her book. Membership is restricted to knitters who think she is a genius.

book. It's the only one I keep by my knitting chair (the one that I keep my dpns on, LOL!!!). My only complaint is that it's not pet resistant, LOL!!! My cat found it the other night and started chewing the spine. We had to rush her to the vet to have the book pieces removed, but the vet said that the real concern was that Sheba had eaten rather a lot of the yarn that I leave lying around my knitting chair, and that it was tangled in her intestines. I can only imagine what it will look like when it all comes out, LOL!!! That would have been a handy warning to have in the book, about cats I mean, because operations are expensive. In conclusion, I wish the book had more pictures.
