Celtic Cap
A head-hugging cap featuring a Celtic-style closed-loop cable panel to be knit in a range of yarn weights.
This cap may be knit either flat with a single mattress-stitch seam, or in the round with as many double-pointed or circular needles as you please.
The number and size of the cable panels will vary according to your chosen yarn weight (DK/worsted weight, aran weight, or chunky/bulky weight). Three charted versions of the cable panel are provided, as well as instructions for three hem variations: rolled edge (for all yarn weights), and plain or picot hem (DK/worsted and aran weights only).
The finished cap sizes range from child to adult size, and are customizable depending on the selection of yarn weight, chart version, and number of repeats.

Price: 3.00 USD |
Sizes: unisex; specific instructions are given for caps with circumferences between 22" and 24.75" (56 and 63 cm); worksheet provided for customizing size
Skill set: intermediate with advanced cables.
Gauge: between 3 and 6 sts per 1" (2.5 cm)
Yarn: Wool blends make for the easiest knitting, because wool's inherent resilience (elasticity) will facilitate the cable crossings and decreases. The taupe model was knit in an aran weight wool blend yarn at 4.5 sts per 1" (2.5 cm). In the detail photographs, the green cap was knit in a hand-dyed worsted weight, worsted spun wool at 5 sts per 1" (2.5 cm), and the blue cap was knit in a bulky weight wool yarn at 3 sts per 1" (2.5 cm).
Yardage: For an adult-sized cap, you will require approximately 250 m (275 yards) in a DK weight yarn; 200 m (220 yards) in a worsted weight yarn; 170 m (190 yards) in an aran weight yarn; 140 m (155 yards) in a chunky weight yarn; or 125 m (140 yards) in a bulky weight yarn.
