knitting patterns to buy
About the girl from auntie patterns
I think some people (not everybody, believe me) would be willing to pay for the stuff I design, so I started out with a modest effort. It will pay for the site (I hope), and maybe some yarn too, which would be a bonus.
The plan is to sell patterns in PDF format, like a few others are doing. I also want to try out a scheme that I've nicknamed the EKLA (end-knitter's licence agreement--yes, it's lame) which I think is better than copyright. Better, because the knitter will know up front what he or she can do with the pattern, and also better because the licence will give the knitter specific permission to do things that, quite simply, copyright by itself doesn't actually permit. It's nothing groundbreaking. It's just a contract. However, I haven't yet seen anyone implement a licence agreement in this context in a meaningful and enforceable way.
The patterns that will be sold through this site are original designs. They also reflect my personal taste and lifestyle. When I knit for myself, I don't knit garments or accessories that have limited utility, and I rarely knit items in fancy novelty yarns. If it's not suitable for more than one type of occasion, and is too inconvenient to launder or block, I probably won't make it.
