Frankly, I’m more concerned about the assigning of all copyright just by entering the contest. I have no problem doing so if I actually get compensated (ie win some decent prize, not Fun Fur) but just entering and giving up my copyright? I think not.

I haven’t noticed any nasty films from Lion Brand’s Fun Fur, and I’ve worked with it quite a bit. It is, as I said, fun. If I had a filmy/greasy experience with it, I wouldn’t care what it looked like.

ITA with you on those hideous ponchos, though. Ew.

  3. j. says:

Ack! No! I haven’t watched any television since the CBC went on strike. I saw it on the Lion Brand website.

  4. Shannon says:

Oh my — the Martha show — you’ve seen it? eeek! I’m kind of scared, although I will admit I want to watch her version of the Apprentice because she’s so capital-E Evil.

Okay, enjoy your fun fur. I don’t enjoy the feel of most predominantly synthetic yarns and fabrics. Ever notice how handling some fun fur or eyelash yarn leaves some icky, waxy film on your hands? That ain’t lanolin. In fact, I don’t know what it is. (Don’t know whether this includes Lion Brand yarn, since I’ve never touched Lion Brand fur/eyelash yarns.) And this reminds me… why hasn’t polyester yarn been subject to price increases the way gasoline has?

And I lighten up on no company that puts a horde of ponchos on the Martha! show, even if they sell pure wool.

Oh, please. My newest project is from the most recent issue of VOGUEknitting in guess what? Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick, as the pattern specifies.

Plus? The Fun Fur is a total hoot.

    Lighten up a little.

  7. Shannon says:

I’m a Yarn Snob, I’ll admit it — but even I like some of their all-wool stuff! I test-knitted a pattern for them (matter of fact, I think the one I knitted is pictured here: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/klw-beret.html !), and it felted really well compared to some other brands.

  8. nod says:

Aw, c’mon. They have actual wool now, so maybe the winner can pick…?
