The general policy is this: I do not intentionally shill for other people in this journal. When I do, it is hopefully painfully obvious.
I do not necessarily possess all the items you may see pictured or described here; but if I do, with few exceptions, I paid for it or acquired it just like anybody else, without any special discount or benefit in exchange for publicizing it. If I happen to mention or discuss a product or service that I do not own or use, it was not done at the request of anybody who has a commercial interest in its sale.
The few exceptions will, or should, be indicated in the relevant journal entry, or spelled out right here. To date, the exceptions are:
- any books in which my patterns have appeared, such as Stitch ‘n Bitch, Knit Wit, Knitgrrl 2, and No Sheep For You (in a sense, I “paid” for the book because part of my compensation was a copy of the book as published)
- yarn supplied for any of the above patterns (the yarn for the LBT was sourced from my stash)
- Shannon Okey’s Spin to Knit
If you suspect that I wrote about something that should be disclosed on this page, please do e-mail and question my judgment. It’s possible I might have missed something.
The point is, I don’t want you to wonder “hmm… did she get a discount or freebie from the company because she mentioned that product?” which is something I sometimes find myself wondering about other blogs. I figure that knit bloggers are honest and will declare when they actually got comped or got a discount, but often in their enthusiasm to talk about their acquisitions, knit bloggers aren’t very clear on whether “the wonderful package I received from Dye Artist And Yarn Retailer Referred To By Her First Name” was sent as a gift with altruistic or other motives, or in exchange for money. I’m just trying to be clear on this sort of thing.
