Sonia Vassi, the first-ever Miss Bulgaria, who is also first Bulgarian to ever pose for Playboy, is a knit designer, too. (You know, like Justine Bateman.*) Scarfs [sic]! Ponchos! Shawls! … with all the skin and fuzzy bits you’d expect from a Playboy Bunny.
Sorry about that. Here’s something else to amuse you: a German artist, Annette Streyl, is recreating landmark buildings in knitting. She works from the original plans, which calls to mind Holly Golightly and her ranch house.
*Bateman’s site isn’t loading for me today. But I did find an example of her poetry.
I must say that I’m impressed at the sheer torture she and her sister must have gone through in their teen years as their hair slowly changed from dark brown, to orange, to blonde. :p
sorry, i did read it wrong, in the country! But still aiming overly high!
Uhhh, like, ick, her bio reads:
“Little did she know, that one small item would push her to become one of the hottest fashion accessory designers in the country”
did i read this right? in the century?
You can even buy one of the Scarfs [sic] in the design, Gaisha! [sic]
I wasn’t able to access the Justine link either, but found Justine Batemen Designs at http://www.justineb.com/ They are alternately silly and dull.
Ew. Does she sell any? At those prices, I’m thinking I could put up with novelty yarns and miles of garter stitch.
Though I don’t have the cache of being Miss Bulgaria.
