Well, first some code on most of my site got eaten by the… I don’t know, maybe the incompatibility monster.
And then my webhost went down for a day, and took my e-mail with it. I know it’s not just me, because I can’t even get to their website.
So I’m in the process of moving and re-installing everything, which is just as well because I had two different templates running on the site, and it needed to be revamped. Especially the patterns. And upgraded, badly. Very badly.
I might even have a backup handy, but restoration of old posts and content is going to take a while…
I agree with Sheila! Your yarn conversion calculator thingie was INVALUABLE! I hope that you are able to get up and running again. I understand your frustration, as I had a similar thing happen to me with Blogger about 6 months ago. But my site was nowhere near as awesomely helpful as yours!
It will be nice to see you writing here again if you can shoehorn us back into your life.
I miss that wonderful conversion chart. Do hope you will be able to post it again as there is no other chart out which so neatly gets to the point. I used the conversion of nm to yards/100 grams almost every day, then suddenly could not access it. So … will the revamped site bring back your conversion chart? Say yes, please…
I suspected someone of passing on some of my knitting pattern downloads… so I had to change all the addresses and passwords… NIGHTMARE!
Keep on at it… You really are THE BEST for copyright information! Thank you so, so much!
I feel for ya! I had a royal mess up myself last year involving an update, a missing folder and wishful thinking, I am just getting back on my feet. It turns out sql is actually something wicked that had led me to a false sense of “hey I can just plug my old posts back in”, too bad it didn’t work like that, it was more like a skein of yarn that my toddler got ahold of, lol. Good Luck and I hope everything gets up and running smoothly for you
Missed ya!
No one else can get to those copyright issues like you can!
-another happy Rogue customer!

Thanks, I had already set myself up on nearlyfreespeech by the time I figured out it was time to move. And qapla’! After several false starts, I finally managed to import my old posts and the comments. Now I have to salvage the images, and set up the other sections of the site!
… and oh, right, fix the template.
Oh dear. Maybe you can try the wayback machine for your older posts (web.archive.org). If you’re still looking for a site host, Dreamhost has been good to me (there’s a referral link on my site). Good luck!
Hang in there….sometimes these thngs happen for a reason. You thought your site needed a revamp — so now you have to do it — the gods have a way of making things happen right?
