Guestbook moronicity rears its ugly head again

Could Diane please e-mail me to confirm that this was a joke?

I suppose I could e-mail her to ask, since she did leave her address when she signed. And it appears to be a bona fide address, which suggests that either (a) it’s for real, or (b) someone other than her is playing a joke and is simply spoofing her address.

Edit: if you do your online research, and assume that the photo that she has published of herself on the web is recent, then indeed, she’s not a “super size” size. Which suggests that this was a bona fide comment. No, I’m not obsessed with this. I’m just staggered.

Makes me want to buy all my yarn from her and only her, forevermore…NOT! I learned from her site that she’s coming to our local fiber fair — it’s going to be tough not to make a comment once I see her normally-sized self in person. Sigh.

If that’s the same Diane who owns a fiber shop–great customer service!

A friend told me about this post over the weekend… want to read the thread… Can someone provide a link. And YES I tried the search function!!!

I like the range. I’m a size four-six, so when I look at a picture of something on a larger woman it can be hard to tell whether it would look good on me. I imagine that the opposite, envisioning a smaller garment scaled up, would be at least as difficult. There are so many issues with drape, necklines, and so on. That’s why I especially liked the pictures that showed a couple of sizes. I also appreciated the text that described how a particular sweater was designed to flatter busty women. Not being one, now I know not to make that one. After all, every pattern in the world doesn’t *have* to be about me. (Knitting anti-solipsism, a new philosophy.)

And by the way, the comment was *not* a joke.

I’ve not gone through the whole issue but I almost e-mailed Kirsty to thank her for showing the finished version of her top in both the XS and and L. Being a girl who regularly knits the XL (and no, my bust isn’t 38″), I like seeing some ‘regular’ girls in the photos. XS is not ‘regular’ in my book.

God, I blogged about this too on my site this morning. I don’t even know where to start. You could pick on the grammer, the idea that only women her size are “regular”, the incredibly immature “Super Size Me” comment… and on and on. Especially when you look at the great size range offered in this issue – models and finished garments.

Shakes head, I was just thinking that it was nice to see more typical-looking models and patterns in a range of sizes in this issue of Knitty. I’m in my 40′s and wear a size 8 or 10, which seems rather unremarkable, but many knitting patterns describe a size XL as a finished 38″ bust, which makes me feel like an anomaly.
